June 2024 CA+inD Short-term Exchange Program for Chulalongkorn University students: Multimodal Global Leaders Development through Asian-Model Dentistry Consortium.
On June 3 – 7, 2024, the Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry held the June 2024 CA+inD Short-term Exchange Program for Chulalongkorn University students: Multimodal Global Leaders Development through Asian-Model Dentistry Consortium. This program is part of the CAMPUS Asia Plus Program, which is part of the Inter-University Exchange Project established by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT).
The aim of this program is to nurture multimodal global leaders, that is, individuals who are capable of selecting and applying knowledge and skills acquired from a multitude of perspectives. They shall do so in a manner appropriate to the needs of education, research, health care, industry, and government, while also understanding how these different contexts interact.
Seven students from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand participated in this program.
During the week-long program, the students attended lectures by our faculty members and participated in a hospital tour and classroom visits. They also engaged in cultural events and exchanges, including a one-day storytelling taxi trip to Minamisanrikucho and Okawa Elementary School, as well as TUIDSO events to deepen their relationships with Tohoku University students and local residents.
In Minamisanrikucho, they participated in a storytelling bus tour and learned from Mr. Goto, a victim of the Great East Japan Earthquake, about the damage caused by the tsunami and the subsequent reconstruction process. At Okawa Elementary School, Mr. Tsuji, a storytelling taxi driver, emphasized the importance of raising awareness about crisis management and taking action to protect lives.
This time, 13 student supporters from Tohoku University generously assisted the international students as lunch and class supporters. Additionally, Tohoku University students who had participated in the CA+inD short-term Outbound Program actively engaged in the program, contributing to its success and making it a highly satisfying experience for the program participants.
