On Friday, October 9, 2026, Tohoku University (TU) and Taipei Medical University (TMU) held a joint symposium at Tohoku University's Katahira Campus.

During the symposium, top-level meetings between the two universities helped strengthen their inter-university academic exchange agreement. In addition, individual parallel sessions were held by the Graduate School of Dentistry, Graduate School of Agricultural Science, Graduate School of Medicine, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Graduate School of Arts and Letters.

In the Graduate School of Dentistry’s session, Vice Dean Wu from TMU College of Oral Medicine and Prof. Hong from the Division for International Relations at Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry presented their past collaborative achievements and future strategic directions. This was followed by research presentations from faculty members of both universities. Furthermore, the Graduate School of Dentistry hosted a collaborative session with the Graduate School of Agricultural Science, where Dean Osaka delivered a lecture on "Shokugaku" in collaboration with the Graduate School of Agricultural Science and the School of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Miyagi University, highlighting Tohoku University’s cross-disciplinary initiatives.

Each session drew a large audience and enjoyed great success throughout the event. Following the sessions, a social reception was held, fostering lively exchanges among researchers from both institutions. This symposium is expected to further promote future academic exchange and deepen collaboration between Tohoku University and Taipei Medical University.
