Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry conducted the "2025 CA+inD Summer Short-Term Outbound Program" over 22 days, from August 31 to September 21, 2025, sending four students to partner universities.

This program is part of the CAMPUS Asia Plus Program, itself a component of the Inter-University Exchange Project established by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT). This initiative aims to nurture multimodal global leaders—individuals capable of selecting and applying knowledge and skills acquired from diverse perspectives, in ways suited to the needs of education, research, health care, industry, and governance—while also developing an understanding of how these different contexts interact.

Four students, ranging from second to fourth-year in the School of Dentistry, participated in the program. Two students studied at Seoul National University and Yonsei University in South Korea, while two others studied at Chiang Mai University and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. Throughout the 22-day programs, participants engaged in a wide range of cultural experiences, attended lectures by host university faculty members, and visited affiliated hospitals.

A student from Seoul National University—who had previously taken part in Tohoku University’s inbound exchange program in August—joined the outbound activities. Through hosting several kinds of cultural activities, he fostered stronger bonds among participants and further invigorated student exchanges. One fourth-year student reflected that, through attending classes taught by professors from different countries and learning from career model presentations, they had begun to consider their own career path as a researcher or dentist.

Overall, all participating students reported that they gained a highly meaningful study-abroad experience, one that will undoubtedly contribute to their future development.
