Apr. 3, 2025
Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry conducted the "2025 CA+inD Spring Short-Term Outbound Program" for two weeks or 22 days from Sunday, March 2 to Sunday, March 28, 2025, sending 20 students to its partner universities.
This program is part of the CAMPUS Asia Plus Program. CAMPUS Asia Plus Program is part of the Inter-University Exchange Project established by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT). The aim of this program is to nurture multimodal global leaders, that is, individuals who are capable of selecting and applying knowledge and skills acquired from a multitude of perspectives, in a manner appropriate to the needs of education, research, health care, industry, and governance, while also understanding how these different contexts interact.
Twenty first through fifth year students from the School of Dentistry participated in this program. Four students went to Seoul National University (3/17-3/21) and Yonsei University (3/24-3/28) in South Korea, seven students went to Chiang Mai University (3/3-3/7) and Chulalongkorn University (3/10-3/14) in Thailand, six students were sent to Universitas Indonesia (3/2-3/17), Two of the six students also participated in the program at Universitas Airlangga (3/19-3/23), and three students were sent to Kaohsiung Medical University (3/2-3/7), National Taiwan University (3/10-3/14), and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (3/17-3/23) in Taiwan. During the two-week and 22-day programs, students participated in a variety of cultural experiences, lectures by faculty at the host institutions, and hospital visits.
In early February, students from partner universities who had previously participated in Tohoku University's short-term exchange program took Tohoku Outbound students out to dinner and showed them around the city. As a result, Tohoku Outbound students were highly satisfied with the exchange experience.
This time, we offered two courses of the outbound program, a two-week course and a 22-day course. As a result, a total of 20 Tohoku students participated in the outbound program. In particular, six students participated in the Universitas Indonesia program, the highest number ever, which further promoted student exchange between the two universities. All participating students had a meaningful study abroad experience that will undoubtedly benefit their future.
