Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry conducted the "2024 CA+inD Summer Short-Term Outbound Program" for twenty-two days from Sunday, September 1 to Sunday, September 22, 2024, sending twelve students to its partner universities.
This program is part of the CAMPUS Asia Plus Program. CAMPUS Asia Plus Program is part of the Inter-University Exchange Project established by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT). The aim of this program is to nurture multimodal global leaders, that is, individuals who are capable of selecting and applying knowledge and skills acquired from a multitude of perspectives, in a manner appropriate to the needs of education, research, health care, industry, and governance, while also understanding how these different contexts interact.
This time, twelve students from the Faculty of Dentistry, ranging from first to fifth year, participated in the program. Five students went to Seoul National University (9/1-9/9) and Yonsei University (9/10-9/22) in South Korea, three went to Chiang Mai University (9/1-9/8) and Chulalongkorn University (9/9-9/22) in Thailand, three went to Universitas Airlangga (9/1-9/8) and Universitas Indonesia (9/9-9/22) in Indonesia, and one student was sent to Kaohsiung Medical University (9/1-9/8), National Taiwan University (9/9-9/15), and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (9/16-9/22) in Taiwan, where they participated in various cultural experience programs, lectures by faculty members, and hospital visits during the three-week program period.
The students from the partner universities who participated in Tohoku University's short-term exchange inbound program in late July and early August were very friendly. They took the Tohoku students out to eat and showed them around the city, so the Tohoku outbound students were very satisfied with their experience. This time we were also hosted by Universitas Airlangga in Indonesia, as well as Kaohsiung Medical University, National Taiwan University and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, and we received generous support from the faculty and students there. All students had a fulfilling time studying abroad and it was a valuable experience that will surely help them in the future.
