CAMPUS Asia Plus Program is part of the Inter-University Exchange Project established by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT). The aim of this program is to nurture multimodal global leaders, that is, individuals who are capable of selecting and applying knowledge and skills acquired from a multitude of perspectives, in a manner appropriate to the needs of education, research, health care, industry, and governance, while also understanding how these different contexts interact.
Five students from Tohoku University's School of Dentistry, including three fourth-year students and two sixth-year students, participated in this program. During the 12-day program, they participated in a variety of activities, including lectures by faculty members from Sichuan University, Tohoku University, and other partner universities, hands-on seminars, campus tours, and enriching cultural experiences such as a visit to panda zoo.
Tohoku University made a significant impact as a co-organizer of the UIP program. Vice Dean Prof. Hong and Prof. Yoda delivered insightful lectures that showcased Tohoku University's cutting-edge research and academic contributions.
A highlight of the program was the intercollegiate clinical skills competition, in which the Tohoku University team excelled, winning first place overall in four categories, including dental skills and medical interviews. This outstanding achievement underscored the exceptional talent of the team and the academic strength of the university.
In addition to the academic and competitive aspects, the program provided a highly rewarding cultural exchange. Student buddies from Sichuan University provided one-on-one support to each participant, assisting with meals, city tours, and other activities. This personal attention greatly enhanced the overall experience and resulted in a high level of satisfaction among the participants.
