Academic exchange with foreign institutions

TU Research-Oriented Incoming Student (ROIS) Scholarship

Tohoku University (hereinafter referred to as “TU”) offers scholarships to qualified international students who are accepted under a student exchange agreement between TU and its partner institutions outside Japan. This scholarship is funded by the Japan Student Services Association. We will inform the partner universities when the application opens.

Cooperative Laboratory Study Program (COLABS)

The Cooperative Laboratory Study Program (COLABS) is a research-oriented and graduate-level program. COLABS provides international graduate students with opportunities to take part in scientific research trainings in English to increase their abilities which will lead them into new discoveries through unique science activities. A wide range of research topics in all fields of the natural sciences are available. Tohoku University strongly believes that the COLABS program enables to build up great international academic relationships with the partner universities of the world.

Sakura Science Program

Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) invites young talented people from other countries and regions to Japan through Sakura Science Exchange Program in a collaboration of industry-academia-government, to introduce and offer experience in Japanese science and technology. Beginning in 2014, and for a period of 6 years, over 33,000 young people visited Japan on this program.

Short-term exchange program supported by JASSO

Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry offers opportunities to the partner universities to send undergraduate students for a short-term exchange program. The exchange program underlines early exposure to nurture global leaders in the field of dental medicine and the consolidation of dental medicine and the dental industry in Asia.
