Doctoral student Haruka Sasaki was awarded the “17th L'ORÉAL-UNESCO For Women in Science Young Talents Program.”

Haruka Sasaki (doctoral student, Division of Dento-oral Anesthesiology) received the 17th L'ORÉAL-UNESCO For Women in Science Young Talents Program in 2022 for her outstanding research achievements. She is the first dental researcher to receive this award. The award ceremony was held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the U Thant International Conference Hall of the United Nations University in Tokyo.
The award was established in 2005 by L'ORÉAL Japan in cooperation with the Japanese National Commission for UNESCO to encourage young Japanese female researchers to continue their research activities at educational and research institutions in Japan. Eligible recipients are female scientists enrolled in or planning to enroll in doctoral programs in the life or material sciences.
Dr. Sasaki received the award for her research on “Elucidation of the role of melatonin MT2 receptors in the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma,” which she conducted during her doctoral studies at the Graduate School of Dentistry.
