Asst. Prof. Kusama received the “Excellent Presentation Award” at the 71st annual meeting of the Japanese Society for Oral Health
Asst. Prof. Taro Kusama (Division of Regional Community Development, Liaison Center for Innovative Dentistry) received the “Excellent Presentation Award” at the 71st annual Japanese Society for Oral Health meeting held online, which started on May 13th.
The poster presentation was titled “The mediation effect of weight loss in the association between tooth loss and increased risk of mortality: JAGES cohort study targeting older adults.”
This study revealed the contribution of weight loss in the mechanism between tooth loss and high mortality by employing causal mediation analysis. This result emphasized the possibility that “Eating” and “Nutrition” are essential factors connecting oral and systemic health.
