Next-Generation Dental Material Engineering

Introduction

Joint Research Department of Next-Generation Dental Material Engineering has been established at 2011 by GC corporation with the aim to make healthy and long-lived society into reality through the research of dental equipment and materials which contributes greatly to oral health care. We are hoping to introduce and clinically apply the innovative technology which corresponds to the national survey regarding dental care, such as "painless treatment","highly aesthetic shape of the mouth" and "oral care of elderly".

To be more specific, we analyze the basic engineering possibilities of dental materials for regenerating missing teeth and bone defect. In addition we conduct research on the design, processing and biological safety of materials including their ability to function as intermediate materials.. We are also in the process of developing a mandatory test method to ascertain the long-term durability of the materials themselves in the oral environment so that they can continue to function and maintain their shape when used in vivo.

Our goal is the establishment of new dental diagnostic methods and testing equipment as well as introduction of new dental materials grounded in our novel clinical research and safety test.
